Leaving a Legacy. “Christ must increase; I must decrease.”

            6.4 Let’s Practice…

                       1. What was the dispute about between John’s disciples and the Jews?

                       2. What was John’s response to his overly zealous followers regarding Jesus baptizing a distance
                       away?

                       3. List three of John’s arguments to his followers why Jesus was so much greater than he.

            4. From whom did Christ receive His authority?

            5. True or False - Every person’s destiny is determined by their personal response to the Son.

            6. Why is it so important that a person’s life demonstrate that their faith is genuine?

            6.5 Let’s Personalize this Lesson…

Activity: Theologians who hold a strong Calvinistic view believe that man is so damaged by sin
that it is not possible for him to have any personal saving faith. They believe that if a person is
elect, the Spirit of God gives the grace to believe and that this grace is irresistible (cannot be
denied). So, in a sense, they remove the responsibility of any person’s personal belief
because it is impossible for any person to believe in faith by an act of his own will. What have
you learned in this lesson that would refute such a position?
