7.5 Let’s Personalize this Lesson…
Activity: Let’s do a bit of study:
In the Old Testament, the Messiah was promised to come to Earth to be a Savior. Write down
descriptive words that describe who the Messiah would be from these texts:
Isaiah 9:6
Isaiah 7:14 (what does Immanuel mean?)
These two verses make it very clear that the Messiah would be God in the flesh, coming as a man.
Now write out verses 25-26 of John 4 here:
What conclusion can you make about the nature of Jesus Christ?
Jehovah’s Witnesses emphatically declare that Jesus is NOT God, and that He was the first creation of God. How
can you use these verses when witnessing to a Jehovah’s Witness?
Now read this verse spoken by Jesus: John 8:24I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for except
ye believe that I am [he], ye shall die in your sins. Notice that the word, “he” is in brackets. That means it has
been added for clarity, but was not in the original text. Jesus told them that unless they believe that “I AM”,
they will die in their sins. The words, “I AM” is in the Greek, “ego emi” which means “the eternal One.” That is
another way of saying “God Himself” and the words reflect on his Eternal Nature. Only God had no beginning
and will have no end; He is eternal. Jesus clearly informed those listening to Him that unless they acknowledge
Him as God, they could not be saved. This is also a good verse to share with a Jehovah’s Witness.
