13.5 Let’s Personalize this Lesson…
Activity: Have you ever had a foot washing ceremony? It is not one of the sacraments left for the
church to practice, but it does teach a significant lesson. The one washing the feet is claiming to
be a servant of the one being washed. It is a clear statement of submission and care.
Why don’t you plan a foot-washing ceremony for your family? Have everyone wash each other’s
feet. And in preparation for your ceremony, read Philippians 2:1-11. Then you might follow that with the actual
story of Jesus washing the disciple’s feet in John 13.
