Old Testament Saints
The evaluation of saints (those who believed in the coming Messiah for eternal life) from the Old
Testament time will be held at the end of the Tribulation. Their faith in God will be rewarded and they
will be a part of the Millennium.

Daniel 12:1–3 (NIV84)1 “At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will
arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until
then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be
delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life,
others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of
the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.

Tribulation Saints
Those who believed in Jesus Christ during the Tribulation Period and died or were martyred for their
faith will be evaluated at the end of the Tribulation Period. Those who were faithful to Jesus Christ will
be rewarded with the privilege of reigning with Jesus Christ in the Millennium.

Revelation 20:4–6 (NIV84)4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given
authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their
testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his
image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and
reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the
thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who have
part in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of
God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

The Sheep and Goat Judgment

Jesus Christ comes as King of kings, and Lord of lords. But at the onset of his kingdom, He comes to
judge the nations. This judgment, called the Sheep and Goat judgment, is described in Matthew 25: 31-
46:

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious
throne. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another

as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on

his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your

inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you
gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you
36
invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison
and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and
give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and

clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters
of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire
prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty
