Chapter 2: The teleological argument – continued

I was a science major in college. The more we studied the biology of the earth, the more
amazed I was at the complexity built into all facets of life. I took a course about cell biology and learned
how every minute cell in the body is basically a city with a power plant, a sewage disposal system, roads
throughout, and headquarters from which all information flowed to keep the business of the cell moving
forward. It is more complex than the largest city in the world. And deep in the nucleus of the cell were
billions of bits of information stored in spiral strings called DNA. I learned that there were over THREE
BILLION bits of information floating around in the nucleus each packed with information about how to
keep the cell alive and functioning and how to create a new cell should this one get damaged. We had
to learn about DNA replication – the process of copying information to create a new cell. We also
learned the process of protein synthesis. It was mind boggling! Today we are going to look at a few
more theological proofs for the existence of God, as well as dive into other ways to validate God’s
               existence. Ready?

                        Objectives …

               1. The student should be able to give at least five examples in nature that demonstrate complexity in
the universe, thus point to a Designer.

               2. The student should you be able to give the step-by-step ontological argument for the existence of
               God.

               3. The student should you be able to give the cosmological argument for the existence of God.

               4. The student should you be able to give the moral argument for the existence of God.

               The Human Brain

Three to four pounds and several thousand miles of interconnected nerve
cells (about 100 billion) control every movement, thought, sensation, and
emotion that comprises the human experience. Within the brain and spinal
cord there are ten thousand distinct varieties of neurons, trillions of
supportive cells, a few more trillion synaptic connections, a hundred known
chemical regulating agents, miles of minuscule blood vessels, axons ranging
