Chapter 3: The Biblical Arguments
Connect …
One of the best “proofs” for the existence of God is that He came to earth in a body and revealed
Himself to us. The Old Testament prophesized that One would come who would be the Messiah called
Emmanuel, “God with us.” Jesus Christ was the fulfillment of that prophecy. Jesus not only claimed to
be God in flesh, but He validated who He was by doing miracles that no person, but God could do. He
walked on water, healed the blind and sick, calmed the sea, and even raised people from the dead. Only
God could do these things.
The Bible is a record of God’s story of redemption. The Gospels give us details about how God
accomplished this through coming to earth to become our sacrifice for sin. Let’s learn more about this
strong “proof” for God’s existence….
Objectives …
1. The student will be able to discuss why Jesus Christ came to earth to reveal God to us.
2. The student should be able to define the real issue behind those who reject all the evidence for God’s
existence.
3. The students will be able to define the Trinity and explain from the Bible that God is one God but a
tri-unity of persons.

The Biblical Arguments: Jesus Christ revealed God to us.
When asked, “Show us who God is?” Jesus Christ told Philip, “If you have seen me, you have seen the
Father.”
Here is the entire passage:

John 14:9-11 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me,
Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not

believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my

own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and
the Father is in me, or else believe on account of the works themselves.
