P. 135
V. 18-19 These verses still follow closely the description of Heaven in Revelation but there are some
discrepancies coming.
V. 20 Will there be infants born in Heaven? Will that child die when he’s 100 years old? Will we BE 100
years old in Heaven?
Will there be SINNERS in Heaven? Every single one of us…but this almost sounds like people will be
sinning IN this new Heaven and new earth.
Some commentators believe that this is referring to the millennium. Pre-millennialism says that Christ
will come, reign for 1000 years and THEN we get to go to Heaven. In the meantime, there will be peace
on earth, prosperity, longevity.
I don’t have the answer and I can’t reconcile these two versions of the new Heaven and the New earth.
Still it sounds very much like Heaven with a couple contradictions.
V. 21-23 That houses will be built that they get to inhabit, not labor in vain, no troubles for your
children, all that indicates a land of peace and prosperity. No attacks from Assyrians or Russians or even
the devil!
All the curses brought upon mankind because of the original sin will be removed.
V. 24 Before we even ask, He will answer. Certainly, God can do this and DOES do this even now. The
Holy Spirit intervenes with utterances that we don’t even hear. But in this new Heaven and earth, we
won’t even have to ask, ever. I see this as an indication that we won’t have any needs or desires that
aren’t already met. No need to ask…
V. 25 The wolf and the lamb, the lion and the ox will eat together. Again, this is the way the Garden of
Eden was created. No animosity between animals OR humans. All is peace forever more…
Chapter 66 Main Idea: This final chapter divides the human race into
two categories: true versus false worshipers. It describes plainly the
heart and behavior of both, as well as their eternal destinies: heaven
and hell.
After working our way through this incredible book of prophecy, we arrive at the end. And in a very
fitting end to Isaiah’s word, the last chapter deals with the eternal destiny of the righteous and the
wicked, new heavens and new earth, New Jerusalem.
There has been much about false worship, false gods, throughout, but also God’s redemptive power has
been highlighted throughout.
V. 1-2 This emphasizes the marvelous nature of God. Where is the house that you will build Me?
Where is the place of My rest? He created all things; nothing could be built to contain Him. Anything
that could be built would be built from things He created.
