Every waking moment is to be lived in an awareness that God is with us and that He is actively involved and
engaged in our thoughts and actions.

Actually, the word “ceasing” does not mean “all the time.” The best way to understand it is to illustrate it with a
hacking cough. Have you ever been in church and suddenly you have to cough? It creates a strong physical
response to clear your throat. So, you cough, right. But then the tingle does not go away, and more follow. You try
to not cough, but it is somewhat an automatic response to that tingle.

Prayer is like that. The tingle to talk to God is there all through the day and the cough represents the actual prayers
prayed during the day in response to that tingle. You may have many more coughs than five, but each represents a
time when you are talking to God about what is happening or what you are thinking about. That is what it means to
          pray without ceasing.
