A False Sense of Security
The prophet Daniel foretold that in the end times, the great ruler
of Europe will “confirm a covenant with Israel for one week (7
years)” (Daniel 7:27). Basically, the most powerful ruler of the
“European coalition” of nations will promise to protect Israel
against aggression from neighboring countries.
Written describing a coalition of countries surrounding Israel
(Moslem Coalition) and to its north (Russia), Ezekiel wrote:

Ezek. 38:8-11 After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has
recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel which
had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations and now all of them live in safety.
You and all your troops and the many nations with you will go up, advancing like a storm, you will be like
a cloud covering the land.
This is what the sovereign Lord says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise
an evil scheme. You will say, “I will invade a land of unwalled villages, I will attack a peaceful and
unsuspecting people – all of them living without gates and bars.”

Today Israel is almost ready to do anything to obtain shalom (peace). They have constructed a wall over
250 miles long (when completed: 436 miles long) and 25 feet high to prevent the continual attacks from
Palestinian terrorists. Keep in mind that they’ve only been a nation again for 61 years, and during that
time they haven’t known even a single day of peace. They would gladly accept the promise of a
protectorate.

The word translated safety in Ezek. 38:8 really implies what might be called a false sense of security, as
if there’s no basis for the feeling of safety that exists in the minds of the people. One meaning of the
word is careless. The safety is more a hope they have than a legitimate condition.

When the “son of perdition” is revealed, he will make a covenant with Israel to protect her from all
forms of external aggression. The walls will come down, and a “peace” will exist for a short time.
Ezekiel 38:2-6 describes a alliance of nations led by Russia that will attack Israel. The alliance will be
made up of Islamic nations, including virtually all Middle Eastern Arab and Islamic states, North African
states, and Central Asian (former southern U.S.S.R) states, plus Iran and a number of Asian nations. This
prophecy specifically names Iran, Ethiopia, and Libya in North Africa.

The prophet Ezekiel declared that God will employ supernatural means to defend Israel in this war (the
War of Gog and Magog). The Lord will intervene to destroy 85 percent of the Russian-Islamic army by
means of fire and brimstone, plague, madness, and the greatest earthquake in history (see Ezekiel
38:19-22, 39:1-2, 6) It will take 7 months just to bury the fallen soldiers! With Russia and it’s Islamic
allies militarily devastated, the political-military balance of the world will be transformed. Focus will
move to Europe.
