(1) remain with – stay in a place together with someone
                              (2) continue – continue in an activity or state

Based on context, there is no indication that this would be referring to a
person’s presence. Rather, the focus is on a person’s activity. Therefore,
                              continue is the best choice.

                          o. forgetful (epilesmone / ep-ee-lace-mon-ay): Noun – feminine singular

                              (1) forgetting – to not recall information concerning some particular matter

Being the only option, forgetting is the best choice.

                          p. blessed (makarios / mak-ar-ee-os): Adjective

                              (1) happy – pertaining to enjoying favorable circumstances

Being the only option, happy is the best choice.

                          q. deed (poiesis / poy-ay-sis): Noun – feminine singular

                              (1) doing – that which is being carried out or done

Being the only option, doing is the best choice.

                       3. Translation

But be ye (scattered believers) doers (those who perform an activity) of the word, and not
hearers (those who understand) only, deceiving (believing and acting upon that which is not
                                              23
true) your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a
man beholding (closely considering) his natural (by-birth) face in a glass: For he beholdeth
                                                                                           24
(closely considers) himself, and goeth (departs) his way, and straightway (immediately)
                                                                                 25
forgetteth (fails to recall) what manner (kind) of man he was. But whoso looketh
(investigates) into the perfect (truly genuine and moral) law (rule or standard) of liberty (that
which is free or freeing), and continueth (continues in activity) therein, he being not a
forgetful (one who fails to recall) hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed
(find joy) in his deed (that which is carried out or done).

                       4. Significance

                          a. But be ye (scattered believers) doers (those who perform an activity) of the word, and
not hearers (those who understand) only…

                              (1) This signifies that believers should be those who act upon God’s truth.

                                 (a) The verb be is an imperative.
                                 (b) The term doers is linked to the word, a reference to the Word of God or God’s
                              truth.
                                 (c) The term doers is used in the sense of performing or carrying out an activity.
