Introduction to Genesis
A US Delta II rocket carried a NASA telescope into space for its 10-month journey and

$310 million dollar price tag to try to discover the origin of the universe. Now that's
$310 dollars of US taxpayers money, to try to find out what's in the first chapter of
Genesis. Amazing!
The Bible opens with a monumental statement, "In the beginning God created the
heavens and the earth." And with that statement the Word of God, Holy Scripture,
affirms the existence of the universe and everything in it as the product of God's
created act.
God Made Everything that Exists: Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heaven and the
earth.
It has been pointed out that if a person accepts Genesis 1:1 there is little chance that they will have
trouble accepting the rest of the Bible. In other words, if they accept that God created all things then He
controls all things and can do all things.
Further, this one verse refutes all of man’s false philosophies concerning the origin of the earth and its
meaning.
1. It refutes Atheism, because it states that the universe was created by God.
2. It refutes Pantheism, (equating God with all the forces and laws of the universe) because God is
transcendent to that which He created.
3. It refutes Polytheism, because one God created all things.
4. It refutes Materialism, (the theory that physical matter is the only or fundamental reality and that
all being and processes and phenomena can be explained as manifestations or results of matter)
because it states that matter had a beginning.
5. It refutes Dualism, because God was alone when He created all things.
6. It refutes Humanism, because God, not man, is the ultimate reality.
7. It refutes Evolution, because God created all things fully mature; they did not appear by chance.
The fact is that all of these philosophies are just different ways of professing the same unbelief. Each in
its own way states that there is no personal transcendent eternal God and that ultimate reality is to be
found in the cosmos itself, (Romans 1) and that the development of the universe into its present form is
contingent solely on the properties of the components of the universe. In fact, each of these
philosophies embraces one another. (Luke 12:30).
It is ironic that in the face of so many anti-theistic philosophies (past and present), that the Book of God
(Bible) makes no attempt to prove God exists. The opening verse of Genesis just clearly starts with the
premise that there is a God and that he made everything. Almost as if it was obvious and only a fool
would say there is no God. (Psalm 14:1).
This fact is unique in comparison with all other religions, religious books, and religious systems. They all
begin not with God but with preexisting matter or energy in some form. In the primeval chaos the forces
