eat and keep alive.” There were also those who said, “We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards, and
our houses to get grain because of the famine.” And there were those who said, “We have borrowed
money for the king's tax on our fields and our vineyards. Now our flesh is as the flesh of our brothers, our
children are as their children. Yet we are forcing our sons and our daughters to be slaves, and some of
our daughters have already been enslaved, but it is not in our power to help it, for other men have our
               fields and our vineyards.” ...

               1 Timothy 5:8 ESV
But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has
denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

               Romans 13:8 ESV
Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

               Ephesians 4:28 ESV
Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he
may have something to share with anyone in need.

Exodus 22:25 “If you lend money to one of my people among you who is needy, do not treat it like a
               business deal; charge no interest.

So what principles can we glean from these verses?

               1. If you loan money to another person, you can avoid the SLAVE-MASTER
relationship by freely GIVING them the money, not expecting repayment.

               2. If you loan money to another believer, do not charge interest if you expect
               to be repaid.

               3. If someone is in need and you have the resources to help, be generous to help.

               4. A generous person gives to those in need, and God promises to repay him.

               5. You must FIRST provide for your family before your funds are available to help others in need. To do
otherwise is to deny the faith and is worse than being an unbeliever! I Tim. 5:8.

               6. If you are asking others for money, remember Romans 13:8 says to owe no man anything. Avoid
borrowing, but trust God to provide your needs.

               7. In your budget, set aside some of your resources to be able to help those in need. (Eph. 4:28)

               8. When you give to a person in need, you are actually giving to God. (Matt 25:34-40) Giving to others
COUNTS as part of your God-giving.
