                       years?

               4. Which United Kingdom monarch defeated the Philistines but never occupied their land?

               5. Which son of David was denied his bloodline claim on the throne for Solomon?

               6. How many temples have there been in Israel?

               7. Which king of Israel came the closest to owning the land God promised to give Israel??

               6.5 Let’s Personalize this lesson…

When God call us to leadership the way will not always be smooth or easy. David was
anointed over a decade before he became king. Others knew that he was going to be king,
yet they still resisted and opposed him. Often as leaders we know God is growing up leaders
around us. Yet instead of promoting and shaping them, we oppose them for fear of losing
our own influence. The truth is, when you lift up and give the platform to the next
generation, you are seen as their mentor. Their victories become yours. In other words, you win when
they do. What would it have looked like if Saul had taken David in and groomed him to be the next king?
Saul would not have died as a failure; he would have been seen as the king who raised up the great king.
