And break down all the sons of tumult.
18 And Edom shall be a possession,
Seir also shall be a possession, who were his enemies;
While Israel doeth valiantly.
19 And out of Jacob shall one have dominion,
And shall destroy the remnant from the city.
A scepter was usually associated with a king. It appears that the initial fulfillment of that prophecy is
seen in David after being appointed as king over Israel (2 Sam 8:2, 14). But it finds its final fulfillment
in Jesus Christ (Rev 5:5; 22:16; Acts 2:29-36; Phil 2:9-11; Heb. 1:3). Jesus Christ fulfilled the office of
a king by assuming that role after incarnation and continues to do so now. And in the near future,
Jesus promised to come again to earth and set up His kingdom as the ultimate fulfillment of all these
promises. Jesus Christ is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords!
