to be God’ s special people, his “peculiar” people, a holy nation, different from all the other nations on
               earth.

Ex. 19:5-6 Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own
possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me aa kingdom of priests
and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel.

Leviticus 11:44–45 For I am the LORD your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am
holy. And you shall not make yourselves unclean with any of the swarming things that swarm on the
earth. For I am the LORD who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God; thus you shall be
               holy, for I am holy.

Leviticus 19:2 Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘You shall be holy, for I
the LORD your God am holy.

Leviticus 20:26 Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy; and I have set you apart from the
               peoples to be Mine.

Deuteronomy 7:6 For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to
be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

Deuteronomy 14:21 You shall not eat anything which dies of itself. You may give it to the alien who is in
your town, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner, for you are a holy people to the LORD
your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

Deuteronomy 26:19 …and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, for praise,
fame, and honor; and that you shall be a consecrated people to the LORD your God, as He has spoken.

Deuteronomy 28:9 The LORD will establish you as a holy people to Himself, as He swore to you, if you
keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways.

Isaiah 62:12 And they will call them, “The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD”; And you will be
called, “Sought out, a city not forsaken.”

               Jeremiah 2:3 “Israel was holy to the LORD, The first of His harvest. All who ate of it became guilty;
Evil came upon them,” declares the LORD.

In the New Testament: Christian people are another holy nation, another special people of God, distinct
from all the nations, but also different from the Jews. These are the people of Christ. In the NT, there is
much emphasis on the conflict between Christians and the world.

1 Corinthians 3:17 If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is
holy, and that is what you are.

1 Peter 2:5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to
doffer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
