Here are Bible verses showing what God requires of us. May they encourage and inspire us. Share
               them with our friends, too!

Deuteronomy 15:7-8 If there is aa poor man with you, one of your brothers, in any of your towns in your
land which the LORD your God is giving you, you shall not harden your heart, nor close your hand from
your poor brother; but you shall freely open your hand to him, and shall generously lend him sufficient
for his need in whatever he lacks.
Jeremiah 22:3 Thus says the LORD, “Do justice and righteousness, and deliver the one who has been
robbed from the power of his oppressor. Also do not mistreat or do violence to the stranger, the orphan,
or the widow; and do not shed innocent blood in this place.

Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do
justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

1 John 3:17 But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against
him, chow does the love of God abide in him?

James 2:15-17 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to
them, “a in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their
body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.

Isaiah 1:17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow.

1 Corinthians 10:24 Let no one seek his own good, but that of his neighbor.

Romans 12:13 …contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.

Proverbs 22:22-23 Do not rob the poor because he is poor Or crush the afflicted at the gate; For the
LORD will plead their case And take the life of those who rob them.

Acts 4:34-35 For there was not a needy person among them, for all who were owners of land or houses
would sell them and bring the proceeds of the sales and lay them at the apostles’ feet, and they would be
distributed to each as any had need.

How should Christians respond to poverty?
