need of God’s help.
• God’s faithfulness is not nullified by our unfaithfulness. His faithfulness rests on His eternal
character and that character is graciously revealed to us in His creation and His Word. His
faithfulness is in no way contingent upon the affirmation of this truth by anyone whom He has
created. The same holds true for every attribute of God. Each one is permanent and wholly
dependent on the holiness of God as God.
• Only God has the power, wisdom and means to solve the problem of mankind’s sin. He
remedies it through the gracious gift of His Son to take on flesh and become a man who lived
sinlessly on this earth in the society of people and then gave himself in death as the sacrifice for
sin that completely satisfied God’s righteous wrath against sin and rose from the dead as the
victor over sin, Satan and death. Only by trusting in Him as God’s gracious provider of
forgiveness and life are dead sinners made alive unto God.
