               Africa… You Are A Book

               Napo Masheane

               Africa, when you smile

Poetry gets written all over your face
               Your laughter becomes

               ... simple couplets

               Your lingering giggles are

… a sonnet with rhyme schemes

               Africa, your teeth sparkle
               Between your well-formed hills… cliffs… lips

The very same lips you bite so shyly

               Then in my awe-ness

               I watch your dreaded-valleys

The ones packed nicely like verses

Tango and salsa effortlessly over your people
While your husky clicking multiple tongues chuckle

               Almost like alliteration of…

                       Time that rides timeless times

Africa, your smile runs with puns
Like a photographic memory that never develops

And in the oxymoron of my thoughts...

                       Like wildfires that are fireless

I indulge in my eyes eyeing yours
