It is such an amazing thing to see Brownsville so successful with both Ozempic and Rybelsus. Can you give us an idea of how you made that happen?
“We think it was super critical to get out of the gates early. Our success didn’t just happen overnight. We set our sights earlier this year on about 16 of the top 30 targets that we felt were going to be absolute must-haves in order to move share quickly with Ozempic and volume with Rybelsus. As a team, we split that list up and really drove the message of superiority with Semaglutide. We impacted 15 of those targets by getting them to dinner programs or taking in KOLs and, thankfully, it worked! To date, more than 50 of our top 100 targets have attended programs. We’ve also conducted nearly 40 programs.”
It is no coincidence that Brownsville is #2 on the Rybelsus Rally, and #1 on the Rybelsus leaderboard. How have you been able to grow breath in your top 100 and is there any advice you can give South Texas about each of us growing our Rybelsus breadth in our top 100?
“If we can give the region advice around growing Rybelsus breadth, I think the number one message to get across to physicians is that Rybelsus is unlike any other oral agent for type 2 diabetes. Don’t be afraid to “go back to the well” with targets that you’ve banged your head with because they will eventually break. We must walk in with great confidence knowing that we carry the best and most complete oral agent for diabetes. Challenge your physicians to think about why they do what they do when treating type 2 diabetes and go toe to toe with them around the pathophysiology. If you target the biggest NIAD prescribers, you’ll see your volume move at a greater rate.”
Is growing your Ozempic 1mg business a priority for Brownsville? If so, how are you ensuring providers are titrating their appropriate Type 2 patients up to Ozempic 1mg?
“Growing our 1mg volume for Ozempic is one of our priorities as we close out the year. We are reminding physicians about all the benefits seen on the 1mg and how patients could be doing even better for the same price. The holidays tend to give us all an excuse to eat more, and that goes for the patients with type 2 diabetes who may lose control if they start enjoying a few more sweets. Talking this up and showing our HCPs Ozempic’s unmatched A1C and weight reduction, allows them to see that the 1mg may be a great alternative to possibly adding another drug and another copay.”
We all hear this from our providers, “But I Love Ozempic, I don’t really see a need for me to use Rybelsus much” What does Brownsville say back to these providers?
“We challenge our HCPs to think about how they can get the same benefits from Rybelsus, only earlier in the disease process. Our conversation challenges them to think about how taking Rybelsus compares to taking Januvia or Jardiance and pointing out that efficacy is not compromised due to a lack of good kidney function. So why not Rybelsus instead of Januvia or a Sglt2? The patient type must be differentiated otherwise our HCPs will continue to go with Ozempic when they could’ve started Rybelsus much earlier.”
