When it comes to stellar performance, Aileen Thomas is no stranger to the leaderboard. Aileen is currently #2 in the Area! As many of you know, the Obesity Dream Team has unique names for each team member. Aileen is affectionately known as Southern Girl. Why this name? A Southern girl is prepared, ready for a challenge, and is kind and wise. These qualities as well as many more have helped her crush the leaderboard with big numbers for both Saxenda and Wegovy. We asked the Southern Girl to share some insight on what is driving her success and how she plans to create momentum into 2022.
What salesmanship skills have helped shape your success?
I believe the one main attribute that has shaped my success the most is my ability to anticipate my customers' needs and service those needs in an efficient and effective manner. I have a unique ability to engage with customers both professionally and personally to persuade and influence their prescribing habits. Some might call this the "gift of gab", but I strive to really understand and comprehend their needs and thus use a tailored approach in my discussions. As sales professionals, we are often taught how to deliver certain messages in a tactical and defined way, but sales models have evolved over my 22+ year career in pharma, and I much prefer to supplement the structured approach with my own personal style to deliver maximum value to my customers. My analytical skills, combined with my passion to deliver a tailored message, have allowed me to have a very successful career. I have evolved and learned so much along this journey.
What will you continue to do to finish 2021 strong? How are you preparing for success in 2022?
I am currently in 2021 COE contention, so I plan to support my HCPs and their patients regarding Wegovy. I will empower clinicians to impact patient wellness on Wegovy as well as making sure that treatment with Saxenda remains a viable option. I believe I can speak for all OCS reps across the country when I say that these last few months have been challenging. I have continually found that communication to our pharmacies is vital along with helping HCPs limit titration gaps for their patients. I've learned that showing empathy while being a reliable conduit of information for my customers has helped me to deliver on the promises and commitments made by myself and NNI.
