Church may evermore serve thee with peaceful and
undistracted devotion. Remember, O pitiful Jesus, how
much innocent blood is continually shed by the scourge
and storm of war. See how many are hurled down into
extremest distress of body and mind. O most loving
Jesus, who hast ever so supremely loved peace, and didst
so often speak peace to thy disciples, we beseech thee by
the ineffable love of thy Heart that thou wouldst deign to
grant thy peace to all Christian kings and princes, and to
bind them together in the most perfect bond of charity
and concord ; so that thy people may be ruled and
governed in quietness and peace, and strengthened and
kept in thy holy service. Vouchsafe to grant us this grace
for the sake of thine infinite goodness and mercy. Amen.
