Online Classes: Trials and Tribulations
September 17, 2020
This Webinar, attended by The Millennium fraternity, was conducted by Dr. Harish Chaudhry, Professor, IIT-Delhi
and Mr. Rajendra S. Pawar, Founder-Chairman, NIIT to throw more light on the enormous impact the COVID-19
pandemic had on education globally. This could also be looked at as an opportunity to usher in a new era of
learning.Mr. Pawar highlighted that in order to ensure the continuity of learning, educational institutions had
embarked on technological platforms to deliver online learning to students. This “new normal” is not only a
different concept for the learners but also for parents and teachers. While teachers have geared up as content
curators, parents are stepping in as facilitators and learning coaches as there is a direct positive correlation
between parent involvement and student’s academic success.Mr. Pawar further emphasised that due to the
present uncertainty and its likely duration, it is important for everyone involved in the process of online teaching-
learning to invest in technology and inventing new pedagogies to meet the demands of the current scenario.
Parents must also communicate confidence and optimism to pull through this crisis together. The entire session
echoed the fact that it is highly essential to care, communicate, motivate, mentor and manage to keep the
magic of learning alive.
