DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE:
Mt. Isarog also known as “vulcan de agua” is the main source of water of Naga City and the
adjoining municipalities surrounding it within the province of Camarines Sur. It is likewise the home
of the spring sources of the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) and the recharge area of its
28 pumping stations to date. With its rich biodiversity and healthy ecosystem, total preservation
and effective management must be employed for the sustainability of natural resources especially,
clean and fresh water source.
Being the latest addition to the seat of the Board of Directors, I take it as my personal quest on
top of other pertinent priorities, the optimal protection of MNWD’s restricted zones and the three
watersheds: Anayan-Rumangrap, Kalinisan-Nabuntulan, and the Naga River Watershed. Given the
present pursuits, we will double our efforts and strengthen our force to conserve this precious gift.
It is in our efforts and programs which will determine the state of our watersheds and will dictate the
quality of supply within our service coverage area and the growing population.
Indeed, without water, there is no life. With the persistence of the Covid-19 pandemic and other
economic stressors, our priority is the best interest of the consuming public by way of ensuring
that water be the most affordable in this part of the world. Without compromising technological
advancements, we will continue to utilize reliable methods such as pumping from the acquifer if not
through artesian wells and spring development.
As 2021 ushered in, we look forward to continuing to do what’s right for each of our customers
and stakeholders. Expect more developments in various aspects of MNWD’s services and operation
as we guide them through this new age and changing tides.

Chairman, MNWD Board of Directors
MANAGER’S NOTE:
It is no doubt that each of us is currently facing one of the most challenging times of our
lives, especially with the fear and anxiety that the pandemic has brought in the past year until
today. Nevertheless, the Metropolitan Naga Water District chose to face these challenges with
great courage and teamwork in order to deliver the needed amount of service to the public.
With all the hard work, MNWD has already gained numerous achievements in the early part of
2021 such as the Huwarang Lingkod-Tubig Award, 2nd place for the PAWD Newsletter category for
Bulos, and the Special Citation for Community Participation from DENR. We have accomplished
a number of waterline extension projects and other community-related developments including
the Salintubig Project in Canaman that will benefit more than 300 households. Most importantly,
we welcomed a new Chairman of the Board to lead the District into continuous growth and
success. More projects are in the works and we are looking forward to their completion to better
serve the public.
Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “You have to accept whatever comes and the only important
thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best that you have to give”; MNWD has
endured and also took risks in the process of providing to the community’s water needs in these
trying times. We still have a long way to go and more challenges to encounter. May all of us stay
true and committed to our profession, and inspire others to do the same.
