Here is an irony of exertion. It is literally true that a filter can snap
when it tries to obstruct an object of impetus beyond its power of
resistance. Synalogically, human over-achievers can hurt themselves

in the pursuit of impossible goals. In both cases the ability to strain,
a desirable trait, is perverted by its inherent tragic capacity to
overload.
