“Do not assume they will be content with becoming a swarm of
networked cyborg information processors limited to computing
intersynaptically asymptotically to standard gnat-cycles. Their goal, or
the inevitable consequence of turning their miniature machines loose
to interact autonomously, is light-speed.”
“Then they shall surpass us!”
“Right.” Gnick was solemn. “To that vast army of conscious nano-
processors buzzing everywhere, the attention span of a gnat will seem
like an eternity.”
