The face then ducked below the waterline—
I didn’t want to follow it with mine!
Looking back now, I guess I should have fought
With any means at hand against the knot
That bound me captive —if I’d had the chance
I might have reached the jackknife in my pants
And jabbed until I broke the monster’s grip;
Released I’d quickly give that fiend the slip!
