Framing the Pitch

deception, and we spend a good bit of time learning to hide what we
are going to do in a given situation: bunt, steal a base, throw an
unexpected pitch. That is a big factor in giving us an edge. Baseball is
a children’s game played by adults. When I’m on the field now, I’m
the only adult, and I know what all the little boys are up to. I intend
to maintain that distinction. And when my new agent shows up in a
few weeks to tell me how many million dollars he was able to
negotiate for my new contract, he’d better be on the level—I’ll know
        if he’s not.”
Luke stood up, towering over the cowering Dr. Fort.

passes to a Ferrets game next year. I might be able to manage it.”
He turned and left the room without another, unnecessary look at
        the professor.
