Sniffy and Spiffy
A couple of old elves, Iffy and Sniffy, had worked for years in a
factory polishing walnuts. Sniffy had a sunny disposition, but suffered
from a chronic head cold and stuffed nose. Spiffy often was cranky
and sour; he was plagued by arthritis, but always showed up at work
neat and clean. They had never been good friends, but they were the
same age and it turned out they had very similar plans for retirement.
They both wanted to move out to the woods. After a lifetime
of hard work, Iffy and Sniffy felt it was time to leave the hustle and
bustle of city life for the natural peace and quiet of the forest.
Accordingly, they gathered up their few possessions and got a ride
out of town with a junkman hauling discarded paperclips out to the
dump.
