                                 Horse and man with dust in their throats,
                                 Had fought for the last of the oats;
                                 He’d loved the beast like a brother:
                                 Now one had to eat the other.























                                                    4. Death

                                    Saddled with debt and disaster,
                                    Riders unable to master
                                    The demons feared in hot pursuit,
                                    Will beat to death their own poor brute.
