Whittled from a bit of hardwood lumber, this creature was
probably not carved from life—its wings sprout from the
abdomen, not the thorax—but undoubtedly was inspired by
the pests AR encountered in his home, garden or produce
business. It is a rudimentary piece of carving, given perhaps to
a grandchild (one of the six legs is missing; another has been
              glued back in place).

        12 Fish and bear
              Wood
              Fish: 8.5” long x 2” wide
              Bear: 3.25” x 2.5”

AR carved the same fish several times in several sizes. All are
sculpted from flat pieces of wood and detailed with simple
chiseling. The largest and most clearly defined of the series
