Resolving the Mechanalog Ambiguity

Krif savagely threw the machine back in gear. “I’ll show you!” he
screamed. “I say they’re just scrap metal and you’re just a trainee!”
“And General Pin knows everything I do,” said Kaga serenely.
“What!” yelled Krif, and jammed the extractor to a dead stop,
centimeters in front of the unyielding Mechanalog. Krif’s entire stack
of segments was heaving up and down. Kaga reached over and
disconnected the power. General Pin, wondering why the extractor
had stalled twice, got out of his car and climbed up to the cockpit.
“What’s going on here?” he asked, looking in amazement at Krif’s
        thrashing body and mottled face.
“Colonel Krif needs a vacation, sir,” said Captain Kaga. “I think
he’s been taking too many sleeping pills.”
