Levi was beginning to feel dizzy. He stopped forcing the noxious
plant pulp down his throat and looked in the direction of Eddie Puss.
First to be affected by the dangerous drug, Eddie came unsteadily to
his feet. He dimly perceived Levi and attempted to hiss and growl.
All that issued were a bubbling whistle and a choking sob.
“Kill you...kill...grgghh...”
Eddie’s visual cortex failed, providing his short-circuited mind with
multiple images of Levi, each at a different distance. He swiped at
one of them, lost his balance, and capsized. On his back and unable
to right himself, he continued to claw at the air like a topsy-turvy
wind-up toy.
