Meanwhile, Billy Bob Cat had had enough. He spat out the last
fibers of locoweed and went tottering off in search of the others. He
had no trouble finding them, given the ruckus they were making. As
he approached Levi and Eddie, he was suddenly struck by an
overwhelming sensation of brotherhood and compassion. Tears
welled up his eyes.
“Hey, you guys!” he slurred. They were oblivious to his presence,
but he was overcome by a wave of warm good feeling. “Hey, I really
love you guys! The three of us are great buddies, you know what I
mean? It’s like us against the world, right? We’ve got to be the best
bunch of tomcats ever to fight over a garbage can! I just want to tell
you how great it is to be around you all the time. Yeah! We ought to
do more things together like this, you know.”
