Do you ever wish . . . you had more music to stream on your phone? Well, at least you can take music with you in your
pocket. In ancient Egypt things weren’t so mobile.
Music was very important as a form of entertainment and also in worshipping gods. Instruments included harps, drums, rattles, cymbals, tambourines, flutes, clarinets, double pipes and trumpets.
The Egyptians didn’t write their music down so no-one knows what it sounded like – although we can safely say it probably didn’t resemble an ear-blasting heavy-metal concert.
So be glad you don’t need to take a full band with you everywhere just to listen to your fave album.
We all like a good board game, and the ancient Egyptians were no different.
They didn’t have Monopoly or Cluedo though, they had a game called Senet.
It was played by members of the royal families, including Tutankhamun. We’re guessing his pals let him win EvErY time, just in case.
To play the game, each player rolled a dice and would move their pieces around and eventually off the board while trying to stop their opponents doing the same thing with their pieces.

Wow! You win again, Tut. What a surprise!
Yeah, probably just as well, what with me being king and all.
