 Battles and Sieges
So you’ve just done something REALLY naughty, like robbed a bank, taken a busy cruise ship for a sail without asking or been a bit cheeky to your gran.
You run up to your room and barricade yourself in. There’s no way anyone can get you out.
But after a while you start to get hungry. You eat that half-flapjack from under the bed, nibble the slippery brown banana from the windowsill (including dead flies) and drink something that may have once been milk but is now green and cheesy.
It’s tErRiBlE! You’re going to break soon . . . and it’s only been 25 minutes! But if you think YoU’vE GoT iT BaD, at least you don’t have to eat
rats and grass or have dead bodies chucked in your window.
If you lived in a medieval castle you might have to put up with all of these things – especially if an invading army had laid siege to it.
A siege is what happened when attackers camped outside a castle and stopped anyone or anything getting in or out – and that included reinforcements and food.
Nice try guys!
They would try to break into the castle and take it by force, but if that didn’t work, they’d simply wait until supplies ran out and the people inside starved to death or surrendered. And that’s where having a lovely ratburger with a side of grass came in.
