By the age of 21, a squire could become a full knight and generally go about the place getting all knighty up in people’s faces with their knight pals.
Do you ever wish . . . your pals thought you were a total LEGEND? Maybe they do – but are you actually a legend? We’re
talking King Arthur style.
People in medieval castles LoVeD a good story, and there were few as exciting and epic as the tales of Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.
Whether or not King A was a real guy or a completely made up character still causes big arguments to this day. There’s very little evidence for his existence, but that didn’t stop medieval storytellers really going for it.
He was said to have been made king after pulling a magic sword called Excalibur out of a stone. There was also a sorcerer called Merlin on the scene and one
of Arthur’s knights, Lancelot, was the child of a fairy queen. If your mum is 10 centimetres tall, has wings and a pretty little crown, you might be, too.
In one tale, Arthur and his knights are having a feast when a green giant on a huge green horse bursts in carrying a holly branch in one hand and an axe in the other. And he didn’t even have an invitation! Rude.
Other popular legends from the time include the well-known tale of Robin Hood and the story of St George and the Dragon.
So if YoU want to be considered a legend, you’re going to have to get yourself a sword, a bow and arrow and some armour. Oh, and a dragon, too.
