I squeezed my eyes shut and hoped we weren’t about to die.
“Watch out!” I heard him say, just managing to make out the words.
I opened one eye and saw we were heading straight towards Mum and the yoga people, who were crumpled together further up the beach.
“Get out of the way!” I yelled at her.
Mum untangled herself from the pretzel pose she’d been in and screamed. The yoga people, who were waving their babies above their heads like a scene from The Lion King, looked around in panic. Vera burst into tears, coughed and regurgitated broccoli on to Greg’s head. It dripped into his eyes, over the end of his nose,
and landed with a splatter on the sand.
The yoga people rolled out of Sunshine’s way,
and she screeched to a halt in front of Mum. “Luna, get your donkey out of here!” she yelled. “And somebody get Greg a baby wipe
for goodness’ sake!”
Greg wiped his eye with a clump of seaweed.
“I’m OK. I don’t think she’s blinded me.”
Margot stepped out from the trees behind me, covered in engine oil from some kind of project,
