Eid al-Fitr is an Islamic festival that is celebrated by Muslims all over the world. It is
the day which ends
Ramadan and it falls
on or near the date
of a new moon.
During Eid, Muslim
people celebrate
with delicious food, by
praying and by giving money to charity.
13th May Ascension Day
Ascension Day is a Christian festival and is a very important date in the Christian calendar. The word ‘ascension’ means ‘rising up’. According to the Bible, 40 days after Easter Sunday Jesus ascended, or rose up, to heaven and went to sit at the right-hand side of God. Ascension Day is always celebrated on a Thursday. However, not all countries hold the feast on this day. In Germany, Father’s Day is celebrated on the same day.
