Make an Eid Mobile
During the celebrations for Eid- al-Fitr many Muslims decorate their houses. This mobile is a lovely decoration to have in the house and is very easy to make. The crescent moon and star are on the flags of many Islamic countries, but they are not the symbols of the religion of Islam. The moon is important, however, as the Islamic calendar follows the cycle of the moon.
This is why festivals such as Eid fall on different dates in the calendar that is more widely used in Britain.
You will need:
Card
Scissors
Silver, gold or white paint, or stickers String or wool
Twig or wooden lolly stick
1 Draw a crescent moon and star on your card and carefully cut them out.
2 Decorate or paint both side of each shape with paint or stickers.
3 Ask an adult to help you punch a hole in the top of each shape.
4 Thread a piece of string or wool through each hole.
5 Tie the other ends of the string or wool to the twig or lolly stick.
6 Tie a piece of string to the middle of the twig or lolly stick so you
can hang your mobile up.
7 Pin the mobile up in your room!
