They might seem boring today, but all these things were incredibly important in ancient
times – in fact, they could be a matter of lIfE AnD DeAtH. If your crops failed because the manure you spread wasn’t rich enough to fertilise the soil, or your plants were choked with weeds, you would be looking at a long, hungry winter (and wishing you’d spent a lot more time worshipping Runcina and Stercutus).
The Romans even had a festival every year for the goddess Furrina*. . . even though everyone in ancient Rome had forgotten why she was actually a goddess! Best worship her just in case she’s the goddess of something rEaLlY cOoL!
Give me an "F"! Give me a "U"!
Bless us, Furrina, and grant us, er . . . whatever it is you grant . . .
*She was actually the goddess of bubbling springs, not bad as ancient Roman god jobs go!
 FANCY THAT!
The chief priest of Jupiter had many privileges but also some rather odd rules about what he couldn't do. He could not leave Rome for a night, touch or mention dogs, beans or ivy, or be NAKED outdoors. So consider yourself lucky that you can do all of those things (apart from the last one, hopefully).
