There’s so much festival fun this month, you could be forgiven for thinking that December is one long celebration from start to finish!
18th December Hanukkah Begins
Sometimes spelled Chanukah, this Jewish festival lasts for eight days. During this time, Jewish people remember how the Second Temple in Jerusalem was dedicated to God. Hanukkah is often called the festival of lights because the holiday is celebrated with the lighting of the menorah candlestick. Traditional foods are served, such as potato pancakes and jam-filled doughnuts called sufganiyot.
