  Did you know that in March hares start to behave in a strange way? If you are lucky enough to spot any, you’ll probably see them leaping about crazily.
You might even find them
standing on their back
legs and boxing each
other with their fists! This
behaviour seems so weird
that we sometimes use the
expression “mad as a March hare” to describe a human who is acting in a bizarre way.
Actually, there is a very good reason why hares act like this in March: the male hares are looking for females to mate with at this time of year. The hares box and chase each other as they try to find mates.
