Why is June Called June?
The month of June was probably named after the Roman god Juno. She was the wife of Jupiter, who was the king of the gods. Juno was the goddess of marriage. Some people think it is good luck to get married in June. The Anglo-Saxons called it Sera Monath, which means ‘dry month’. (Maybe it didn’t rain so much back then!)
June Birth Signs
Gemini The sign of the twins. Anyone born between 21st May and 21st June is a Gemini. They are supposed to be very chatty!
Cancer If your birthday is between 22nd June and 22nd July it is said that you are born under the sign of the crab, known as
Cancer. Cancerians are believed to be
shy, sensitive, loving and thoughtful.
Constellation of the Month
Cassiopeia was a vain queen in Greek mythology. The legend tells us that she was thrown into the sky as a constellation after enraging Poseidon, the god of the sea. She boasted to him that her daughter, Andromeda, was more beautiful than his sea nymphs. She should have known that it is never a good idea to make an ancient god angry!
