secret garden
Have you ever wanted your own secret hideout? Then try growing a garden den! Who knows what brilliant adventures you will have in your living garden playhouse?
Decide on the place where you want to put your den. Ask a grown-up to help you dig and weed a circle of soil, then rake it until it’s nice and crumbly. Plant your bamboo canes firmly into the ground in a circle, then get your grown-up to help you tie them together at the top into a cone shape.
Now water the soil so it’s wet but not too muddy, and sow your seeds around the circle, close to each cane. Leave a gap on one side of the seed circle, so that you can enter your finished den. As the vines start to grow, gently tie them to the canes using your gardening string.
After two months, the canes will be covered with vines, and you will have a secret hideout inside!

You will need:
5-6 equally tall, strong bamboo canes a shovel, a rake and a hoe
vine seeds: sweet peas, runner beans, climbing nasturtium, morning glories, peas or honeysuckle
2-3 meters of gardening string watering can
