It’s thought that footballers are at their best between the ages of 27 and 29. Sometimes they have to stop playing professionally because they get badly injured, but most players choose to retire by 35. But not always – Kazuyoshi Miura played for Yokohama FC in Japan at the age of 51!
When footballers aren’t in training or playing matches, or even if they’re retired, they still keep busy!
Many play other sports where you are less likely to get hurt, like golf, swimming or fishing.
Some even practise yoga or ballet to increase their flexibility, strength and balance.
Like everyone, they also have hobbies that they enjoy like playing online games, reading and listening to music.
