  Note!
When ancient Greek times ended the gods had to move somewhere a bit
less flashy. They now share a bungalow, with a small garden and a shed for
keeping lightning bolts in.

people gave you loads of presents?
If it’s gifts you’re after, you should probably consider becoming an ancient Greek god. They got LOADS of pressies! But maybe not the kind you’d want – unless a dead sheep is top of your birthday wish list?
Ancient Greek gods weren’t all peaceful and chilled out. They could be angry, violent, jealous and turn super nasty if they got out of the wrong side if the bed in the morning.
To keep those grumpy old gods in a chirpy mood, the ancient Greeks would offer them prayers and, most importantly, sacrifices. The highest offering was a bull but they also offered other animals, such as goats and sheep, as well as other kinds of food and wine.
  Great party, right?
Yeah! Though all the humans look quite hungry . . .
Sacrifices usually took place at an altar in front of a temple, with the people who were there eating the meat and inner bits and bobs of the animal after it was killed. Yummy – fresh entrails for lunch!
Liquid offerings, called "libations",
were also commonly made, although it’s unlikely these included lemonade, banana milkshakes or ice cream floats.
