During the Ming dynasty, big printing factories were built to print novels, information books and religious texts. Books became much cheaper than they had
ever been before, and normal people could buy them as well as the rich.
To create a book, Chinese writing was back-to-front on blocks of wood, then the woodblocks were covered in ink and pressed on paper. These sheets of paper were folded and stitched together,
before being glued
into a cover.
