A small and slender seabird with a short, forked tail. It likes to nest on stony beaches and shingle. The male is very noisy and chatters loudly to attract a mate.
This small toad lives in warm, sandy ponds and is not a very good swimmer. It is very loud and can be heard croaking from up to two kilometres away!
Sand lizard
The UK’s largest lizard species, which
is most often found sunbathing on sand dunes. Females are sandy brown, while males have stripes of bright green.
