The greatest threat to coastal species is the litter that is washed up by the tides. Plastic litter is often found in the stomachs of dead sea creatures,
and sometimes it strangles them when it gets wrapped around their bodies. Coasts are also threatened by pollution from farming,
industrial waste and sewage.
