Situated in the heart of St Andrews, St Leonards is a forward-thinking, co-educational boarding and day school which oers an outstanding education.
St Leonards was named Scotland’s Independent School of the Year in 2019 and, for three years running, was ranked as the Top Independent School Sixth Form in Scotland for IB/A-level results by the Sunday Times Schools Guide.
St Leonards was the first school in Scotland
to be accredited as an all-through International Baccalaureate school, and is the only school in the UK to actively oer all four programmes. In Years
1-6, pupils follow the Primary Years Programme. This is combined with extensive outdoor learning opportunities, with “Beach School” being a staple
of the weekly timetable. The pupils then progress
to the Middle Years Programme, before choosing either the Diploma Programme or the Career-related Programme in the Sixth Form.
Over the past three years, the boarding
houses have undergone an extensive £4 million redevelopment. They have state-of-the-art kitchens and spacious communal areas. The bedrooms have newly fitted built-in beds and study spaces, with modern storage and lighting. Many bedrooms have sea views beyond the school playing fields. Full, flexi, and weekly boarding is available from age 10.
With the beach just a two-minute walk from the school grounds, well-established links with the
University of St Andrews, and seven championship links golf courses on the doorstep, co-curricular activities play an important role in school life. St Leonards’ five-tier golf programme continues to go from strength to strength, the Duke of Edinburgh Award is the fastest growing of all Scottish independent schools, and an exciting calendar of activities ensures pupils leave equipped with the skills and interests required to succeed.

Holding an international reputation, Strathallan needs little introduction to those seeking a high- quality boarding establishment for their sons and daughters.
The school is regarded as one of the best in Scotland and has a worldwide reputation for academic, musical and sporting excellence oering a true all round education.
The school revolves around boarding, with 60
per cent of the 545 pupils being full boarders from
all over the UK and abroad. We have a very strong international and ex-pat community, with 18 per cent of pupils having parents who live outside the UK
and 20 per cent of our pupils being from 25 dierent countries. As a whole, 80 per cent of our pupils are British. Being a member of the Strathallan community is a wonderful experience in itself, but crucially it is also an outstanding preparation for the future.
Strathallan Prep School (age 8 to 13): This year, Strathallan launched its new prep school. Previously Riley Boarding House, it is a perfect balance of small classes with big resources. Our pupils enjoy the expertise of dedicated primary school teachers and the specialist input of subject teachers from the senior school. It is a world where children can make friends easily, where they are nurtured, motivated and inspired.
Excellent Academic Achievement: The average class size at Strathallan is just 14 pupils. Our A-Level rate at A* to B was above 81% this year. More than 95 per cent of leavers progress on to top universities
in the UK and abroad, with some of the brightest successfully making it to Oxbridge.
Inclusion: We have an exceptional sporting
record with a number of young Strathallians being Olympic and Commonwealth athletes, but our ethos is about inclusion and to that end, all pupils represent the school in team sports under the age of 15. Participation in sports right through to sixth form is extremely high, as is the number of pupils taking part in our 25 music ensembles and extensive performing arts activities.
At Strathallan we truly believe in our motto: We provide opportunities for every pupil to excel, wherever their interests lie. www.strathallan.co.uk
